Question 2.
The last two lines of the poem are not prohibitions or instructions. What is the adult now asking the child to do? Do you think the poet is suggesting that this is unreasonable? Why?
Answer:
In the last two lines, the adult is asking the child to make up his own mind about things. Yes, the poet is suggesting this is somewhat unreasonable because first the adult asks the child to do everything according to his wishes, and suddenly they blame the child that he does not do anything on his own.

Question 3.
Why do you think grown-ups say the kind of things mentioned in the poem? Is it important that they teach children good manners, and how to behave in public?
Answer:
Grown-ups have the best interests of children in mind when they ask them not to do something. They have more experience of the world, and know how the world works. Yes, it is important that they teach children good manners, and how to behave in public because the lack of good manners creates problems for others. For example, if a child yells at a public place like in the metro, they are creating a nuisance for everybody else. And this is not fair to other people who would like to, let’s say, read or meditate, or just catch a shuteye.
