Question 1.
Gundappa has some land with tall coconut trees.
(i) How many coconut trees does Gundappa have?
(ii) How do you know?
(iii) Gundappa has plucked 5 coconuts from each tree. How many coconuts has he plucked?
Answer:
(i) We can see that coconut trees are following certain patterns. There are 3 rows and 3 columns in each box.
So, the number of trees in a box = 3×3=9 Therefore, the number of trees in whole land = 9 trees × 9=81 trees
(ii) Count the number of trees drawn or grouped.
(iii) Number of coconuts plucked by Gundappa =81 × 5=405 coconuts
Question 2.
Muniamma makes plates and cups
Muniamma has arranged coconut laddoos and milk peda in trays like this. All trays have the same arrangement. Trays are placed one on top of the other.
(i) Numbers of cups?
(ii) How many coconut laddoos are there in the trays?
(iii) How many milk pedas are there in the trays?
Answer:
(i) Numbers of cups =66
(ii) Number of coconut laddoos in one tray
=3 × 4+1=12+1=13 × laddoos.
Total coconut laddoos =13 × 3=39 laddoos
(iii) Number of milk pedas in one tray
= 4 ×3 ×pedas
= 12 × pedas
Total pedas =12 × 3=36 pedas
