Answer:
In the picture, I see a huge tree. Three birds seem to be sitting in a nest comfortably. Over them another bird is hovering. It may be their father/mother or any other saviour. Below on the small as well as a large branch of the tree, another bird is sitting in some anxiety.
I remember a time of completing my science project. I had to work hard for hours together in order to make everything available. It made me feel the value of hard work and the satisfacton alongwith the happpiness after accomplishing it.

Where are the places you see birds? What do you see the birds doing?
Answer:
We can see birds in various places and surroundings like trees, saplings, flowers, parks, gardens and even on the roof corner of the house. One can enjoy their chirping, building nests and way of feeding their youngs. These always remain in search of food.

Do you want to fly like a bird? Why?
Answer:
Yes, it is generally with each and everyone to fly like a bird. It makes one realise the wonders of the sky as well as the world below the sky. It is a matter of great achivements that aeroplanes, drones and helicopters are at our end.

What does a baby bird think about its world?
Answer:
A baby bird thinks that its world is small, comfortable, well-protected and confined to the nest only. It is surrounded by polite leaves and thin straws in the deep branches of a tree. It is prepared/made at a place of safety from the enemy. Its mother is all in all.

My world was small, round and light blue at first. After that my world was warm and comfortable. It was made of straw. In this world I could only see leaves whenever I stepped out. In the end, my world became big. It had the sky and the earth as a part of it.
Answer:
When the bird was a baby, she thought her nest was the world, where she was secure with her mother. Later when she grew the thought about the world changed to green leaves. She flew as an adult and found the world very, very big.

We move in groups from one place to another, but I need to be careful, not to get trapped in the fisherman’s net. I have to be also careful of the larger fishes that can feed on me. My home is made of brick, cement, and iron.
• Why do you think our homes are not made of straw?
Answer:
Our homes cannot be made of straw because they will get wet with the rain. It will be a weak house and will not be able to support our weight. We will not be able to cook our food as straws will catch fire easily.
• If you had to own a home of your choice, what would it look like and what materials would you like to use?
Answer:
People use cement, bricks, wood, iron, etc. to build their homes.
• How is a home different from a house? Discuss with your classmates and teacher.
Answer:
A home is a place where you live comfortably with your family. A house is made of bricks or stones or mud. It is only a shelter.
• Look at the list of some workers who build houses. Find out the work they do and write, as shown in the example. You can think of other workers and add them too.

Question 2.
Look at the different kinds of nests and homes the birds make. Have you seen any? Discuss these type of nests with your teacher and classmates.
Answer:
(a) Small open nest : It is small open nest made of somewhat strong straws built together to give the shape of an open tumbler. It is quite safe even in the violent storms.
(b) Hanging nest : It is a hanging nest on the branch of a tree. It is more than 9″ in length. It can accommodate the family of birds together.
(c) Cavity nest : It is well protected. It has a opening from which the birds can enter and leave. It is generally thorny leaves hollow in the stem of a tree. It is a fine and safe place for birds like owls and bats. They can see everything from their homes.
(d) Leaf nest : It is a long nest intervowen by the sparrows of different types. It goes on hanging without any harm to the young ones of the birds. It can be seen in the dense forest.
